Will Sibley is a graduate from Wilfrid Laurier University, and is currently completing his Master’s degree at the University of Windsor in Strategic Business Management (Sport Specialization). Will has owned Control the Crease Goaltending for 3 years, and has been working with elite level netminders since moving to the Waterloo region in 2008.
As a goaltender, Will played for the OHL’s Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors, as well as junior for the Waterloo Siskins, and Listowel Cyclones, and CIS for Wilfrid Laurier. While playing for the Siskins, Will led the league with the lowest GAA and highest Save Percentage during his rookie season, while going on to win the League Lowest GAA award for back-to-back years.
After completing his final junior year, Will decided to pursue elite level coaching, while joining the Waterloo Wolves Minor Midget AAA team, and opening up Control the Crease Goaltending. During his 2 years with the Minor Midget AAA team, the team held the league lowest goals against, while also qualifying for the highly renowned OHL Cup tournament. During his second season with the team, the Waterloo Wolves went on to win the Alliance Championship, while holding the lowest goals against average across the entire Waterloo Minor Hockey Association.
Currently, Will is a goaltending mentor for the Waterloo Minor Hockey Association, helping with the design and implementation of the Wolfpack Hockey Program. Will also works with an abundance of teams throughout the year at the AAA, AA, A, and MD levels, while also providing elite level private and semi-private services. Additionally, Will holds a degree in sport psychology, where he applies this knowledge to all training sessions. He currently holds the position of Director of Mental Performance at Depth Training, where he helps athletes understand the importance of sport psychology, while also using applied techniques such as imagery, arousal/anxiety control, goal setting, breathing, progressive relaxation, motivation regulation, and more.
Peter is a former 2nd round NHL draft of the Colorado Avalanche back in 2008. Peter was a 5th round draft pick in 2006 to the Lewiston Maineiacs of the QMJHL, where he spent 3 seasons, before playing half a season in Quebec and Halifax.
In 2010 Peter signed an AHL-ECHL contract with the Hamilton Bulldogs. After having a good season in the minors Peter then signed a 3-year entry-level contract with the Montreal Canadiens.
Peter is an experienced goaltender coaching who is still currently playing at a high level of hockey at the age of 24. Peter has worked with a number of talented goaltending coaches such as Patrick Roy, Jocelyn Thibault, Jeff Hacket and Craig Billington while a member of the Colorado organization. Peter has also worked with other notable goalie coaches such as Pierre Groulx (Montreal Canadiens), Patrick Dallaire (Salzburg Redbulls), Eric Raymond (Halifax Mooseheads) and Corey Hirsch (Team Canada u-18).
Vincent ‘Vinny’ Merante is from Niagara Falls, NY, and currently plays for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks Varsity team. Vinny has been an integral component to the growth of CTC Goaltending, and is the primary instructor for all team training. Vinny has been training goaltenders for over five years, including goaltenders in New York, Huntsville, and Waterloo.
As a goaltender, Vinny played for the Thorold Blackhawks of the GOJHL in 2012/2013 starting 39 games that season. He then committed to WLU last year where he started in 11 games as a rookie. Despite playing on a weaker team over the past 2 seasons, Vinny has managed to post a .915, and .919 Save Percentage respectively.
Vinny uses his playing experience, and positive mentality to ensure that each goalie he works with enjoys their session, and while further reinforcing the proper fundamentals.
